Los Cristales Geisha

A Boquete-grown Geisha with jasmine, mango, and a tea-like body — the variety that redefined what coffee could taste like.

Highland coffee-growing countryside near Boquete, Panama, home to Los Cristales Geisha

Planted at altitude on the slopes of Volcán Barú, this Geisha lot comes from the Alvarado family’s Hacienda Los Cristales, one of a handful of Boquete estates that replanted old Geisha rootstock after the variety’s rediscovery reshaped the region’s reputation.

Washed and patio-dried, the cup delivers the variety’s signature: intense jasmine florals, ripe mango and papaya, and a delicate, tea-like body that rewards slow, low-temperature brewing over sheer strength.

Producer

The Alvarado family replanted a hillside block of old Geisha rootstock in the early 2010s after the variety's rediscovery on a neighboring Boquete estate, and now runs it as a dedicated micro-lot.

Terroir

High elevation on the shoulder of Volcán Barú brings cool nights and near-constant cloud cover that slow ripening dramatically.
